ORISSA --- the southeast state of India is the homeland of 18 indigenous communities. These tribal are lover of peace and son of soil as well. But the modern mind and thought of development pushed them away from the mainstream of nation. They are innocent, well bred and lover of Nature. This is the reason of their exploitation in many ways. Due to uncertainty of job, they have to work in the unorganized sector like paddy fields, wage labour etc. --- roosts of their exploitation .The tribal ladies and babies are the biggest, easiest and prominent target of such moneylenders, landowners, bureaucrats, researchers and partially social scientists too. In other words they become pregnant by the brats of their society and outsiders even for one night stay.

‘The situation is becoming so explosive’ reports leading weekly magazine INDIA TODAY (19 July, 2004/http://www.india-today.com/) that leads towards all sorts of depriveness for the tribal oreads. “Thousands of such destitute women have accepted their fate as unwed mothers. While some have become scavengers, others have ended up in mental asylum” (Pioneer, 20 August.2004). “The face of compromise is full of fear. An irregular development process and exploitation at the hands of outsiders or bigwigs of their society has left these tribals deaf and dumb” (The Hindustan Times, June 10,2004). Actually “the drastic changes brought by the urban interference has done more wrong than good to the tribals Hindustan Times.

In nutshell, Orissa outcasts 40,000 unwed tribal mothers. Sulaxmi is intensively active for their betterment from micro –level. By now ,128 such mothers have been identified, who need instant relief from us. The research wing of Sulaxmi documented the saga of 50 mothers out of 128 with the financial assistance of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi (a wing of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Media cell of Sulaxmi is making a documentary film on the same issue (The hindu) entitled “The Green Rainbow”. The TRUST is interested to make a forum on the same issue to provide appropriate relief to these mothers as their rescue.
